Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Construct plug
   • Select plug construction materials in accordance with job requirements and specifications
   • Select plug coating materials to meet specifications in accordance with organisational procedures
   • Select appropriate tooling and machinery
   • Mark out plug material/s in accordance with plug construction requirements
   • Carry out plug release angles/taper, flanges and rounding/concaving of corners, where applicable
   • Use appropriate tools, machines and construction practices to construct plug
2. Finish plug
   • Check plug for compliance with specifications/drawing
   • Apply final finish coatings to plug to comply with specifications, where required
   • Prepare plug for mould manufacturing in accordance with specifications or procedures
3. Produce mould
   • Apply tooling coat to plug in accordance with standard application procedures
   • Apply construction materials to plug in accordance with appropriate lay-up sequence and procedure
   • Apply stiffening/bracing materials in accordance with job requirements, where applicable
   • Prepare mould for production run/s, where applicable
4. Determine job requirements
   • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
5. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
6. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
7. Establish plug specifications from drawings, relevant documentation and client discussion, as appropriate
   • Select plug construction materials in accordance with job requirements and specifications
8. Select plug coating materials to meet specifications in accordance with organisational procedures
9. Select appropriate tooling and machinery
10. Mark out plug material/s in accordance with plug construction requirements
11. Carry out plug release angles/taper, flanges and rounding/concaving of corners, where applicable
12. Use appropriate tools, machines and construction practices to construct plug
    • Check plug for compliance with specifications/drawing
13. Apply final finish coatings to plug to comply with specifications, where required
14. Prepare plug for mould manufacturing in accordance with specifications or procedures
15. Determine mould requirements
    • Interpret mould construction specifications and drawings
16. Select mould construction materials in accordance with specifications
17. Select appropriate tools and machinery/equipment for job application
    • Apply tooling coat to plug in accordance with standard application procedures
18. Apply construction materials to plug in accordance with appropriate lay-up sequence and procedure
19. Apply stiffening/bracing materials in accordance with job requirements, where applicable
20. Prepare mould for production run/s, where applicable
